About Us

The Socorro Community Theater, Inc. made its debut with "Macbeth" in the spring of 1994. Since that time SCT, an all volunteer organization, has averaged two productions per year. Productions in the early years focused on the works of Shakespeare including "Othello", "Hamlet" and "Much Ado About Nothing". Later productions included "Harvey", "You Can't Take It With You", "Murder in the House of Horrors", "Charley's Aunt" and "Noises Off". SCT has performed in a number of venues in Socorro, such as the Valverde Restaurant, Rancher's Steakhouse, Holiday Inn Express, and Macey Center on the NMIMT campus. Most of the productions, however, have been performed at the historic Garcia Opera House.

SCT attributes its continued success over the years to the support and good will of the community. The organization welcomes newcomers and although prior experience in theater is appreciated, it is not a prerequisite. Anyone interested in any aspect of theater (acting, costuming, set design or construction, publicity, technical support, etc.) can learn more about SCT by calling the number below.
