SSR Athletes Dominate Los Alamos Triathlon
Striders And Riders members Christian Krueger and Terry Moore bested a field of 279 triathletes at the Los Alamos Triathlon, held on August 17th. The Los Alamos Triathlon, the oldest continuously held triathlon in the world, starts with a 20K bike leg, followed by a 400-meter swim, and finishes with a 5K run, all at the 7700' elevation of Los Alamos. Krueger was 4th after the first leg, took the lead during the swim, and held on for the overall victory with a time of 0:58:24. Moore also took the women's lead during the swim, and finished first among the women with a time of 1:10:00. Fellow SSR member Laura Jean Wilcox was the second female finisher, just behind Moore with a time of 1:10:51. Other members racing included David Yin (1:06:12, 1st 20-24) and Robert Abernathy (1:29:16).
Fat Tire Fiesta Ride Leaders Needed
Fat Tire Fiesta still need a couple of ride leaders. If you're willing to take a little responsibility for your ride, it's a good way to get free entry. Everything's been filled except for the Lemitar Mission tour and the Piro Indian Ruins tour. We also need assistant ride leaders for the San Acacia Rock Art tour and the Strawberry Peak tour. If you can help, contact Mark Bottjer.
