Socorro Tennis Association
Membership
The Socorro Tennis Association is open to anyone wishing to join in some tennis fun. Playing
levels of club members range from 2.5 - 3.5 and includes players ranging in age from teenager to
seniors in their 70's. For further information on becoming a member, contact one of the current
officers:
Tournaments and Matches
- Tournaments are hosted by association members on the 2nd Saturday of each month,
except for May. There will be no tournament for May due to Socorro High School and NMT graduation ceremonies. Non-members
are welcome to participate in tournaments, however, all participants in a tourney do need to pre-register by contacting one of the
officers or by contacting the tournament host. Entry fees for all players is a can of low
altitude balls. Non-members are charged an additional $3.00 entry fee to help cover the cost of refreshments served at the
tournaments.
- Location of City Courts
- Fun Play Matches are held at the Sedillo City Courts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
at 5:30 p.m., and on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. Come a little earlier on Tuesday and Thursday if you
would like to warm-up before game play.
- Community Tennis Players - A list of community tennis enthusiasts - STA members,
drop in players, and tournament participants.
Tennis Lessons
STA has two members who are giving tennis lessons in the area - Robert Martinez and Mark Nolen. Robert was a
High School and Middle School Tennis Instructor before retirement, and Mark is currently the New Mexico Tech Tennis
Instructor. Both are currently available for lessons. Contact Robert at 835-1468 or Mark at 575-517-9988 for
