           | Fat Tire Fiesta Planning Meeting TONIGHT
The triathlon is barely over, and now the 2003 Fat Tire
Fiesta draws near. Why do we keep doing this to ourselves?
	        It must be the heat...

The "T minus one month" meeting of the Fat Tire Fiesta
planning committee will be held on Wednesday, August 20,
at 6:00 PM in the Socorro Chamber of Commerce. While much
of the preliminary work for the Fat Tire Fiesta is
complete, we still have _plenty_ to do. Contact Mark or Camille if you want
	        to help!

Duke City And Rio Grande Marathon Date Conflict
It was recently brought to our attention that the Duke
City Marathon (Albuquerque) and the Rio Grande Marathon
(Las Cruces) have landed on the same date, October
26th. You choose. Both events offer a marathon,
marathon relay, half-marathon, and 5K run and walk. Duke
City also offers a marathon walk and a kids-K. Both are
Boston qualifiers. Duke City has a website, while Rio
	        Grande has an entry form,
and will have a website by
	        October.

 Los Alamos Triathlon
Los Alamos hosted their unique bike/swim/run-format
triathlon for the umpteenth time (really, this is possibly
the oldest continuously-run triathlon in the world,
although the MVTC in Las Cruces also claims that honor)
last weekend. Last year's winner Christian Krueger got his
revenge against Clay Moseley for beating him at the
Socorro Triathlon by turning it around and beating him by
two seconds. Christian finished third overall in 0:59:54
behind Dave Derkacs and pro Jimmy Archer.

Laura Wilcox grabbed first in her age group with a
1:13:55, and Robert Abernathy finished 14th in his age
		    group in 1:24:01.
