Alyssa Higgs Takes National Age Group Title
Alyssa Higgs won her 14-under age group at the USA Triathlon
National Age Group Championship, the Gatorman Triathlon, held on
September 28th, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. That makes
her the National Champion! Alyssa left the 1000-meter swim second
in her wave, then cruised to a 1:51:10 finish. Her father, EP
Higgs, finished in 1:57:44, good for 5th in the
Clydesdales. This concludes a great season for Alyssa, who now has
to concentrate on school and the short course swimming season for a
while again. Look for her on the triathlon podiums again next
summer!

Duke City And Rio Grande Marathon Date Conflict
It was recently brought to our attention that the Duke
City Marathon (Albuquerque) and the Rio Grande Marathon
(Las Cruces) have landed on the same date, October
26th. You choose. Both events offer a marathon,
marathon relay, half-marathon, and 5K run and walk. Duke
City also offers a marathon walk and a kids-K. Both are
Boston qualifiers. Duke City has a website, while Rio
Grande has an entry form,
and will have a website by
October.
