Local Race Results

SOMA Quarterman Triathlon

On Halloween weekend a few of us SSRer'scompeted in the SOMA 1/4 Ironman (no one wanted to do the 1/2!). Even though it was in Phoenix it was chilly (65 degree water? yowza!).

Just like Shrimpman, Mike won the race (02:09:52)!! Steven came in 2nd in his age group (02:24:34), 9th overall, Alyssa won her age group (02:40:31) and was FIRST OUT OF THE WATER!!, while EP (02:52:56) and I (02:49:07) brought up the rear. The race was very well organized (other than the unripe bananas) and the drive along Highway 60 is almost worth the trip.

Full results are here

Shrimpman Triathlon

A weekend before Halloween, Mike and Steven Montoya competed in the Shrimpman Tri (900 M SWIM 30 K BIKE 8 K RUN), with Mike winning (1:33:08) and Steven coming in 3rd (1:38:37).

What a great triathlon!!

Results for this year's Chile Harvest Triathlon, held on August 14th, can now be found on its website.

Socorro Striders and Riders would like to thank all of the participants, volunteers, and sponsors. Without all of you we literally would not have been able to hold a triathlon for 300 people!

A view of the crowd being adressed by the...

Race Director, Fred Yarger.

From the first swimmer

to the kids running their tri,

it was the best yet!
