		Sportz Outdoor Offroad Triathlon
Jayme Margolin and Robert Abernathy headed upstream to the first ever Sportz Outdoor Offroad
Triathlon held at the Albuquerque Academy on Sunday. The course was 12k bike, 5k run,
and 400yd swim. The start was a Le Mans start in which the bikes were laid down and, at
the whistle, everyone ran from the starting line to their bikes. The bike course was two
times around a loop and would have been very fast if not for a few patches of sand.
After the bike and the 5k trail run (partially over the same course as the bike), was the
400yd swim. This was held in not one but two 25 yd pools, 150 yds in the first and 250 in
the second, one length in each lane, so passing was easy. Attendance was very good, over
a 100 competitors were registered at the start of the race. Mark Mico and Sportz Outdoors
should be complimented on yet another fine race course and give them credit for the good
			weather as well.
Jayme distinguished herself in her very first triathlon by taking second in her age group
with an 83:48 after factoring out the overall winner who was also from her AG.
A medal on her very first tri! Robert -no legs- Abernathy managed to plod his way into
7th out of 8 in 73:40. Final results can be found
			HERE.

2005 Run to the World's Longest Tram 10K
Shingo headup north to do another high-altitude race and did great again! His time was 1:46:20 (as given in the print-out sheet
came in 2nd out of 5 participants in male 35-39. He said the MANY hills were steeper than expected
but the trail was great, including a lot through the forrest. At some point the Final Results
			should show up HERE.

		Sahuarita Lake Triathlon
On Memorial Day Alyssa, E.P., Ephraim, Julie, Steven, & Mike got down and slimey at the Sahuarita Lake Tri in
Arizona (1000 meter swim - 25 km bike - 5 km run). Below are the results and you can eventually
check the website for all of the RESULTS.
The T1 and T2 times seem to be added to the swim and bike splits, respectively. It also appears
that Alyssa set the all-time women's record for the swim split by 26 seconds!

			Magdalena Ridge Road Closure
From the official web site for the
Magdalena Ridge Observatory:
"Intensive road maintenance and repair, including cleaning out culverts, will commence on March 21. This is in preparation for the Single Telescope construction which will start on or about April 18. In consultation with Dennis Aldrich of the USFS, Forest Road 235 will be closed to the public on work days from March 21 until further notice. Work days currently are Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. The road is open during non-work hours and on weekends. In mid-April work days may be extended to six days per week, and hours may change. This site will be updated accordingly.

According to Rob Selina, site engineer for the Magdalena Ridge Observatory, the guards were misinformed and work days do not include weekends, so the road is closed only on weekdays from 6 AM to 5 PM, and some Saturdays for the next 3 years and possibly much longer, depending upon how long the construction lasts.
