Nex Mexico's Finest Half-Marathon

Robert ran this nearby half-mary and discovered that Linda and Gerry were doing it as well while on their journey home for the fall. All three did quite well! The complete marathon and half-marathon results are HERE.

F-1 Draft Legal Triathlon

In late August another decent sized group of SSR'ers ventured back to Bottomless Lakes State Park to take part in the draft-legal Formula-1 Triathlon. The full times are here, but these are the basic results:

  • Julie Ford placed 3rd overall in the Female division, beating out one competitor in a near-race to the finish at the 1:53:49 mark. On a side-note, she also won Third Overall for the series!!

  • Kim King-Wrenn won her 35-39 AG in 2:36:50 and we have your award.

  • Rheda Brown placed 2nd out of more than 3 Athenas when she finished at 2:45:03.

  • Ephraim Ford came in 10th overall in the males, won the 25-29 Age Group, and came in 4th in overall series by crossing the tape at 1:42:10.

  • Shingo Date finished 4th in the 35-39 AG, with a final time of 1:52:05.

  • Robert Abernathy finished 6th/7th in his AG, with a time of 2:02:04.

Los Alamos Triathlon

For some of us, our first trip to Los Alamos for a triathlon will certainly not be our last! This was a well-run and very scenic tri. The Official Los Alamos results are HERE.

  • Christian Krueger got 5th/9 out of Elite males in 5 01:00:57.92

  • Ephraim Ford (me!) placed 8th/10 (25-29) in 01:12:35.81

  • Shingo Date placed 26th/29 (35-39) in 01:34:16.11

  • Robert Abernathy placed 17th/21 (40-44) in 01:23:15.64

  • Julie Ford placed 2nd out 23!! in her 30-34 AG, with a time of 01:19:35.05

  • Lynette Napier placed 4th/6 (55-59) with a final time of 01:55:08.72

  • Rheda Brown placed 5th out of 6th in Athena with a time of 01:54:42.38

Socorro Chile Harvest Triathlon

What a day for racing! It is safe to say that the triathlon went quite well and was nearly perfect. As you should know by now, the run was about .2 miles short, but who cares!? We had quite a few locals in the race and our very own Alyssa Higgs won overall female, outlasting Terry Moore. Mike Montoya came in third overall for the men and more SSR's won AG awards. 2005 Fall Running Series

It's that time again! Click HERE for the offical poster for this year's Fall Running Series.

For those who have been living under a rock, it is a fun, cheap, and enjoyable way to race away the boring Wednesday nights in Socorro. It's a good break from our track workouts, too!

The first race is on September 14th, then October 5th, 26th, and November 12th. You only need to race 2 to qualify for the $25 prize for EACH age group.

  • Cycling (Road): MWF 11:30 AM, meet at the IRIS Parking Lot.
  • Cycling (MTB): Friday 11:30 AM, meet at the IRIS Parking Lot (not very regular!).
  • Cycling (MTB): Sunday 10 AM (no-drop), meet at Spoke-N-Word.
  • Running: Sunday social run, meet at Tech pool parking lot, 7 AM Sundays .
