Cathy Places Fifth at SOMA 1/2 IM
It was nearing record highs in Tempe (and that's saying a lot) but
Cathy kept her cool and finished fifth out of 30 in her age group! Her
final time was 5:37:11 and full results for all of the SOMA races can
be found at thier timing website.
Did you know the current U.S. record holder in the Scheeb is an SRS member?
That may have sounded a bit weird, but it's true. On a recent trip to New Zealand, Mark Bottjer took a turn at the Schweeb in Rotorua,
NZ. When he stepped out of the recumbent contraption, err, the
Schweeb, he was holding the U.S. record at 1:08.92, only 5 seconds off
the world record!
Ellen Aster Garners 2nd in Ruidoso Race
On the 20th, Ellen placed second in the Ruidoso Ski Run Challenge. Read about it online and check out the cool little bear she won.

1st Elephant Man Tri In The Record Books
It appears if you race the new T or C Olympic tri and hail from Socorro
(in some way) you place! Way to go:
- Cathy (3rd in AG),
- Michael (1st in on bike and 2nd
OVERALL!),
- Lynette (2nd in AG), and
- Petra (2nd in AG)!

Congratulations to Ellen for winning her age group at the very
difficult Imogene
Pass Run!
Local Athlete completes IM Louisville
Michael Ruth completed his first IM in 13:34.
A few days later he was even showing off the bike at the Tech Club Day,
surely turning some heads.
Locals in High Standing 2007 NMORS
Take a stroll through the various NMORS standings
and you'll see some familiar names, especially near the top of the Single-speed
Men's, Sport
M19-29, and Beginner
Men's 30-39.
At a quick glance, Issac and Karl are 2nd & 3rd in their
category,
David Vaughn and Walter Brisken are 2nd in theirs, and Ellen Aster and
Peter van Moorsel have points from racing as well!
Sahuarita Triathlon
Pat Roache recently braved the heat over the Memorial Day weekend in
Tucson while participating in the Sahuarita Triathlon. Check out the results,
which show that he finished second in his age group.
Jay Benson Triathlon
At least 4 SSR members raced the Jay Benson on May 13th with Catharine
Roache and Royce Laine getting second and first in their age groups,
respectively, while Melissa Begay and Pete van Moorsel fought through
the large crowds to grab top 10 places in theirs. Check out CCR Timing

Trail Work This Weekend!!
We expect to LEAVE the coffee shop parking lot at 1PM on the 3rd of
November. You can bring your bike, but it's not necessary. The area of
the trail work is near the Barite Mine Rd. in the Quebradas.
Winter Time Trials
Four 10k timed bike training rides.
SSR will set up the course, the starter, and the timer. These are
non-competitive and each day requires a $5 daily USA Cycling membership
if not already a member.

The Fall Running Series is Almost Done!
It consists of 4 5k's (see schedule at right), and costs $5 to
register PLUS you have to be an active SSR member.
Almost 30 runners in race #1!!
Yes,
the
first 5k was a long one. 3.3 miles, in fact. So we made the second a
wee short to make up for it! Then we held the third one on a course
where you ran uphill into the wind. What fun!
