San Diego Spring Sprint Triathlon
Pete had quite an interesting trip on the weekend of May
6th-7th
- He drove to San Diego and did a spint tri while there! Despite the
water being around 65 degrees and the swim start going off without him
for 90 seconds, he finished 11th/35 in his age group with a time of
1:04:35 according to the results
online.
Atomic Man Duathlon Results
Good job Cathy for getting a third place in the Fat Man Duathlon! She
finished the 10k/40k/5k in 3:03:30.
For full results, see the Atomic Man
Duathlon website.

Richard's finish must have been exciting as he won by a mere two
seconds.
Wind Triathlon,
err, Aquathlon Race Report
Yikes! WSMR was the site of some really strong
winds on
Saturday morning (4/15). I estimated them to be to about a steady 25
mph with
gusts around 50! It made the Mt. Taylor bike descent look easy.
Signs were getting blown around, people were being
sand-blasted, and bike racks (with $10,000 + in bikes on them) were
being knocked over. After a brief discussion, the organizers canceled
the bike leg and extended the run leg. For what it's worth, the run
course was later measured in our truck to be 4.25 miles, or just under
a 7k. The swim stayed 400m long.
To give you an idea of how strong the winds winds were, let me tell you
that my feet were being knocked into each other, drafting packs formed,
and, at one point, my cheeks & gums were flapping - and I
wasn't
even talking! That said, Julie and I did pretty well as the bikeless
course worked to our advantage. I scanned in the full
results here (465k).
